Dressing your Apple shaped Figure

Last class on dressing your figure! Today we are talking about dressing your figure if you have an apple shape. To find out if you are apple shaped, do the following:

Grab a piece of paper and a pencil and a measuring tape. Measure around your ta tas, waist and hips. Write out your measurements and then measure lines on the piece of paper (if your ta tas meausre 95 cm around, draw a 9.5 cm long line). If your lines look like this:

Ta tas:       _______________________

Waist:            ___________________

Hips:               __________________

Congrats! You are apple-shaped. To sum up, your shoulders/upper body should be the widest and your legs are slim; i.e. top heavy. Your waist is not as defined as an hourglass or pear shaped figure.

Celebrities who are apple-shaped: Angelina Jolie, Jessica Simpson, Catherine Zeta Jones and Liz Hurley

What you should wear if you have an apple shape: Avoid clingy tops. Look for thicker knits and/or highly structured tops that flare out just under the ta tas. Ruching is a great look around your mid-section. Look for v-neck shirts to draw the eyes up. Flowy dresses with a higher waist line are good. With blazers, aim for ones that hit below your belly with a shirt that does the same but does not cling. Long and loose cardigans and skinny jeans are always a great look. Dark monotone top and bottom is a great silhouette for you. Emphasize your legs with shorts and shorter skirts. Untucked blouses are a great look with flared pants. Show off your pins! Draw eyes away from your midsection.

Cute outfits for apple shapes:

What you must own in your closet:
Sweater dresses that are short and v-necked
Any type of pants (but avoid side pockets and high pleats)
Pencil skirts and A-line skirts
V-neck tops
Blazers and cardigans that are well-fitted at the shoulder but don't hug the mid-section and extend past the waist
Dresses with an A-line skirt and ruching

Hope this has helped! Please let me know if you have any questions! Class dismissed!
