Supplements and a Cleanse

Image
This winter I am determined to stick to a supplement routine. I usually take vitamin B in the winter to fight the dark dark days and feelings of murderous rage - a friend suggested this a couple of years ago and it was a very good suggestion. Here is a list of vitamins I am taking everyday: Vitamin B Viamin C Vitamin E Magnesium I feel better. I also started a colon cleanse on Monday by taking psyllium husk (another friend suggested this a few years ago as well) I have good friends. The cleanse is 10 days long and I am also drinking freshly pressed juice during the days and a healthy dinner at night. Even on day 3 I am feeling a million times better! I feel like it is a good idea to clear out the system. Although there hasn't been much of a "clear out" yet, I am confident I'll be yelling "Thar she blows!!!" any day now. Hopefully when I am at home. Must buy more Febreze for the bathroom. I apologize in advance, dear Husband. I will run the tap to pr

The Plague and Failing as a Parent and Good Deeds

So so so sorry for not keeping up with the Blog last week (I don't know who I am apologizing to but meh). Got the sick and then had to have a meeting at the Kid's daycare about his temper. You never feel like more of a failure than when your kid acts out. He's a good kid but he's two and wants to permanently be by my side. I get it, I am fabulous. Anyway, as January flies by and I find more reasons to eat badly I have come to the conclusion that instead of feeding my stomach I need to feed my soul. And so I am starting the "Good Deed Every Month" plan. I have an awesome life and so it is my responsibility to spread joy. Who's with me?! Find at least one thing you can do to make someone's life a little better. I've just done something for January and February is coming up and I will start searching for a new good deed soon. Also, I am starting to plan a charity event in Vienna for some time in April. It will involve a city scavenger hunt and so my

Kid Shows I Hate

Image
Wowza I was not in a good mood this morning. I blame it partly on the dream where I thought I was pregnant again and started dry heaving in my sleep. Awesomeness. When I woke up and got dressed, I made the mistake of trying on a dress that I had bought months ago and hadn't yet tried on and it didn't fit.. well, it fit but in the same way bike shorts fit, and yet you shouldn't wear them out. And so the spiral of despair started and the Kid tried to lick my perfume bottles and when mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy. Sigh. Only recently has the Kid started watching cartoons. Not because we are great parents who made a decision to limit tv time, but because he just wasn't interested. Now, well now he has a few favourites and both the Husband and I hate them, hate them all. Let's start with Caillou. Caillou. Bald and whiny. Why is he bald? Is he sick? His younger sister has hair. Are his parents extra nice to this kid because he has some weird disease?

Teeth Whitening - Cheapo Version

To be a Real Housewife, youse got to have the white white teeth. I mentioned a few months ago that I was pretty happy with the Blend a Med white strips but yes, they can be a little pricey. After spending a little time (hours and hours of unmitigated scrolling) on Pinterest, I came across and at-home teeth whitening recipe and it goes like this: 2 tbsp of Hydrogen Peroxide (the 3 per cent stuff) 2 tbsp of Baking Soda 1 tbsp of tooth paste Mix it together. Brush your teeth for two minutes, trying not to gag on the mixture and then rinse. Do this once a week until you get the results you want. I'm going for "seen from Space" white.

At Home Spa Sundays

Image
Sunday evenings are sacred in our home. As of about 4 we are shut in and ain't going nowhere. It is a great way to get ready for the week ahead. I usually finish up laundry, vacuum, clean the kitchen and plan out my outfits for the week. And most recently, I have re-started my at home spa Sundays. Once the Kid is in bed, it's Mommy-time. I run a bath, fill it with bath salts. Then I dry brush, exfoliate my face, use those Nivea strips to pull out gunk from my skin. Then I apply an aspirin facial, sit in the tub and read magazines, shave my hairy knees (I have like 4 hairs on each leg, I kid you not, except for my knees. Those be Chia Pets). Then I add a layer of face cream, use body cream and then do a teeth whitening (at home recipe coming soon). And then I have a cup of tea and crawl into bed and pretend to be asleep when the Husband tries to hold my hand. Blissful budget spa Sundays.

Obsessed with...maybe... not sure...

I bought L'Oreal - Nude Magique BB Cream the other day and finally used it this morning. It is Friday and although we don't have a dress code my version of casual Fridays is to sometimes wear flats. I also decided to take it one step further and forgo slapping on a thick layer of foundation. Instead, I tried the stuff that promises to all sorts of voodoo magic to my skin. So it comes out of the tube, it is a white slightly grainy substance that kind of feels like wet sand. I initially thought it had expired or had been tampered with. But alas, no, that is how it is supposed to look and feel like. I rubbed it on my face and was kind of surprised that the coverage was decent. I set it with some powder and the result was ok. A little bit of coverage but not as heayy as foundation. Apparently using this for a week will change my skin and while it isn't voodoo magic by any stretch of the imagination, I am willing to give it a try... on weekends and some casual Fridays. I give

Pinterest Spring Offer

I'm wearing hot pink today. I feel like brining a little colour to my day. We are in the middle of January and for some reason, Spring feels like it is just around the corner. Woot woot! I like to lie to myself once in a while. Anyway, I want to offer my Pinterest offer again! If you don't know what it is, here is a little recap: Recently my sister asked for a personal shopper as a joke on Facebook and as I was all like "let me do it!! Please let me do it!! I need to be needed and useful!" and so, without her really agreeing, I went ahead and made a Pin board for her and started pinning clothes that I thought would work for her body type, lifestyle (she has 3 adorable children) and budget. Oh how fun that was! I made sure (save for a couple of pins) that I chose clothes easily bought on her side of the pond and within a reasonable price range. So now (I trademark this idea guys, like totally patented right now as I type) I offer you folks your very own boar

Handmade Gifts

Image
I thought I would show a couple of gifts I made over the holidays for friends. I used a technique that should have worked a lot better but it didn't. So in the end, this project took me a lot a lot longer. My friend is having a baby and she loves David Bowie. David Bowie on a onesie. Yessss. Another one of my friends loves witches... And so I made this one. It is printed on a green flowy shirt. I am pretty happy with how they turned out... Now I am inspired. Maybe I will stick my face on a whole collection of shirts and make the Husband wear them around town. "Who's this? Just my talented and neurotic wife!" Oh snap.

Back to Work... Again

5 weeks have flown by and now it is time to head back to work on Monday. I've missed it and I am kind of excited to forgo stretchy pants and wear a blazer again. But heading back to work means a lot more organising on my part. When I was at home, planning usually entailed whether I would wear a bra or not or if I could opt for a nipple hiding cable knit sweater. Tough times, it was. And so, because my time will be more limited, I have to plan plan plan. And since I am currently sticking to a lower carb diet, I have to make sure that my meals are planned... One badly planned day can lead me down the path of temptation which could mean an orgy of Mars Bars and Mac and Cheese. It wouldn't be pretty. And the Husband definitely doesn't want to walk in to the kitchen finding his wife smeared in caramel and powdered cheese crying "I'm so fat! Why don't you love me anymore? Want some Mac and Cheese?" So to not allow a binge frenzy, I have created my menu for n

Christmas Recap

Wow, it was a trip. The Kid decided to get the chicken pox over Christmas and then once that started to clear up, he got a terrible cold. It is apparently tradition to get sick over the holidays. My sister had scarlet fever one year and one year I had appendicitis. Obvioulsy we were making damn sure that we'd get awesome gifts. Apropos awesome gifts, this year I lucked out! From the Husband: 3 pairs of (slutty impractical) heels. I love them but they are almost impossible to walk in. I have been practicing for the past couple of days. Lingerie An awesome over the top keychain. It is so blingy that the Kid tried to decorate the tree with it Computer speakers shaped like red high heels A USB coffee cup warmer (I never finish a cup of coffee at home before it gets cold) A Kindle light A cute sweater dress A Bath Butler (I have always wanted one of these) A hook to hang my purse on tables (I don't know how he knew I wanted one) UV Gel nail tip kit (I died opening this
