Friday Wrap Up

I am on day 8 of veganism and I truly can't believe I have been sticking with it. I have no idea if it is having any affect. It has been interesting trying out different foods and probably the biggest challenge is not being able to just "snack" which is actually probably a really good thing. I went out for some amahzing Indian food last night. A friend suggested it and it really was great! And the service was impeccable. Our one server was an adorable woman who is from Luxembourg and has an Italian father. She was literally a little walking and talking Audrey Tatou and she was great. When you live in Vienna, and you have dined out a lot, you meet a good server and you want be like "Hey, let's be Facebook friends!" It was great to catch up with friends and I also met a great newbie to Wien and that is always exciting to me because... advice, I like to give it. I'm obnoxious. But that's how I roll.

I also managed to eat a vegan dinner. And wine is vegan, right? I'm excited that I made it through my first "challenge" but I guess it wasn't that hard because we did not go to a burger joint. But we will, oh we will.
Shhh. Patience my darling. We will be together again soon.

Today is a work holiday which is great because I can spend the morning working on Halloween crafts. I had planned to do some Bikram but I would rather not have my ass kicked this morning. I had wine last night. I brought the Kid to daycare and as I was heading out the door, the Husband looked at me oddly.

"Why are you dressed up?"
"I'm not dressed up." He pointed to my heels, my vintage coat and lipstick. "Well, they just treat me better when I'm wearing nicer clothes." and then I flounced out to escape his judgey mcjudgeyness. Usually on my off days I turn into a sorority sister after a binge drinking weekend. Yoga pants and soft t's and sweatshirts - bliss. I need this daycare to treat me well or I am going to lose my ever loving mind and if it takes a Chanel purse to make them like me then I will wear that purse every single day.

We have a meeting next week with the daycare specialist and the head master to discuss the Kid's first month. Again, I want to puke a little because as most of you know, these meetings at the old place invariably turned me into a sobbing mess. But I have to have faith that this place wants to help us. Let's just keep our fingers' crossed that they will be helpful and sensitive and LET HIM STAY PAST NOON! I guess the district child psychologist (the one who got us this daycare, hallowed be his name) came by yesterday to the daycare and watched the Kid. He is pushing for therapy. Well, we are currently in ergotherapy but if you have something else up your sleeve Dr., then we are all ears. Unless I don't like your suggestion and then I will be obtuse and weepy. Again, that's how I roll.

The only thing that is keeping me sane right now is that the Kid absolutely adores going to kindergarten. It is such a huge difference to the old place where we literally had to ply his little fingers off the doorframe and then in fine curling style, sweep him into the classroom and lock the babygate in record speed. Now, he runs in with a huge smile on his face and I have to chase him down to get him to say "buh bye" because it is all about my needs and wants. No, he really is a changed little boy and it makes my heart sing.
Give Mommy a damn hug
So that about wraps it up for this week. I'm hoping to stay the course vegan wise, I also want to take a Fall walk because the leaves are starting to change and I have a fantastic flannel shirt that would match our perfect family outing in my head. And by perfect I mean that none of us will end up crying.
