The Way Some People Find my Blog and a Challenge
Now, I am not sure why people read my blog. O.k., there are some reasons that people read my blog... they are interested in autism, they like my use of gifs, they are my friends and want to support me, sometimes I make them laugh, they want to see if they are mentioned in it, they live in Vienna and want to know where I go so they can avoid bumping into me... I don't have a sophisticated stat counter on my blog. The only thing I can really see is the number of page views, which countries those page views are coming from and what people search for and somehow end up on my blog. So I decided today to post the most common terms that bring people to my page. And some of them are amusing.
Pros and cons to living in Vienna: This one is pretty understandable. I did a whole "pros vs. cons" post a while ago. I think if I had to move to a new city I would most likely type in the same thing. As well as, "average price of alcohol".
Salma Hayek naked: I have absolutely no clue what this one is about. This has been typed in at least 50 times and I am racking my brain trying to figure out if I ever made a comment about her being nekkid. I am assuming that it has to do with some gif I used and I might have been drunk. I get it though, Salma Hayek is hot.
How to dress rich: This is my most viewed post. I did this as a bit of joke post after watching some TV show that was supposed to take place in a hoity toity neighbourhood and I was bugged at how they dressed the actors. They looked more Feline's basement than country club terrace and I decided to write a "How to dress rich" post. Do I dress rich? No. I look terrible in Polo shirts and jodphurs.
Girl in a tubetop: AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Wrong blog! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Sigh. One day.
"and saw that Lauren": This is another head scratcher. I can only assume they are searching for Lauren Conrad gifs. The Hills were everything back in the day and I still watch old episodes once in a while. If that show had existed in my teens, I would literally be in LA working at Teen Vogue right now, as the oldest intern ever. And to honour this search, I will provide my favourite Lauren Conrad gif.
Two girls in a tubetop making out: AHAHAHAHAHAHA! Do what our generation had to do, use our imagination. Back in
my day....
That woman who writes a blog about her life in Vienna and autism and uses gifs: Pretty specific and and yes, you came to the right place! Thank you for reading!
So those are some of the searches that bring people to my blog. I should probably invest in a better statistic measure thingy but for now, this remains to be a fun past time. I have just passed 145,000 views which is pretty exciting! Thank you for continuing to read Operation Tubetop! Merci!
It is Sunday and we are having a mostly at home day. Yesterday we went to a public kids' pool. The Husband too the Kid there while I was in Canada and yesterday was my first time there. It was a lot better than I expected because usually I am not good around crowds. I am also a bit of a nervous mom when the Kid is near water because we have had to hold him back from throwing himself into fountains. He is obsessed with water! We put on his water wings and for 3 hours he lost his ever loving mind. It was great to see how happy he was and I loosened my grip up just a little after a couple of hours. I swear I have carpal tunnel syndrome from all the holding onto him. He kept pushing my hand away but I was like "Not on my watch!" His head went under water a couple of times (the Husband's fault. Not on my watch.) and he spluttered. I panicked and the Husband was like "He is fine." and then I responded with "He could have water trapped in his lungs and when he goes to sleep he could drown!!!" and the Husband said "Where did you hear that?" and I quietly responded "I saw it on a Baywatch episode."
After a great few hours, we packed up and headed home. We spent the rest of the afternoon trying to keep the Kid awake until bedtime. Of course we were actually just trying to keep ourselves awake because we were exhausted. By 8:15 the Kid had conked out and by 9:30 I was in bed, stalking strangers on Instagram... people are so much cooler than I will ever be. I might as well just go ahead and get a perm and buy mom jeans... No, stop it Tova, you are still cool, fight it! FIGHT IT! Sigh.
Before I end this post, I have a challenge for all you awesome readers... The prize is my eternal gratitude. Back when I was a pre-teen, I read a book that I loved and to this day, I cannot find it. It pretty much goes like this: Girl from a normal American family turns 16. Suddenly some fancy car shows up from some small kingdom. Turns out she was switched at birth when her mom gave birth in a palace kitchen on vacation. She has to then go back to the kingdom and be a princess. No, not Princess Diaries but something similar. Anybody know of that book? It was awesome! And I kept waiting for a fancy car to show up at my house. Princess? Don't mind if I do! This is why I still think The Beautician and the Beast is a seriously underrated film. Fran Drescher and Timothy Dalton?!? IT WAS AMAZING! And if you can figure out what the name of the book I mentioned before is, you will have my love forever. And if you are bored, might I suggest The Beautician and the Beast!
I wish you all a fabulous Sunday. I hope to get another run in tonight before collapsing on the sofa and watching Pretty Little Liars. I never claimed I was intellectual. I also have to write an e-mail regarding an interview for a journal and work on an article. I really really wish I was a princess today because staff. Happy Sunday!
