Total Eclipse of Something

Image
Well howdy ho everybody! Happy Wednesday! The last 24 hours have been kind of a whirlwind of excitement! And you all know how much I love excitement... when it is good excitement. I feel like the solar eclipse might have made things a little bit more crazy in a good way and I am no scientist but I think we might be entering into a bit of a phase of awesomeness. And I will get to that shortly but let my first go "YAAY!" On Monday evening I met a friend for dinner. Before that I stopped at a shop to buy the Kid some school supplies. I tried not to sob uncontrollably while shopping and may or may not have hummed "Sunrise, Sunset" in the store. After that heart-wrenching activity, I headed to Es Gibt Reis to meet a friend. Apparently EVERYBODY knows this place but me... so you are all dead to me. Except, maybe you thought I just like pizzerias... while that's mostly true, I also demand to know about awesome places in general so you are still all dead to me. We s...

My New Lover, Podcasting

Image
A million apologies for not writing a post in foreva! I have a new lover, his name is podcasting. I have done about 4-5 episodes the last couple of weeks and I am having so much fun doing them! Here is a link to my new channel: Operation Tubetop Podcast  if you want to check them out. What do I like about podcasting? It's fast, it's easy and I get to talk and talk and talk which is a favourite hobby of mine... obviously. But of course I can't forget my first love: writing. I promise I will continue to blog! We also have figured out that I lie sometimes so don't hold me to this. I hope you all had a great weekend. For the most part mine was low key. Well, low key for me. On Friday afternoon I stopped at the Cafe Gitarre for a quick drink and to read a book. Then I headed home because the Husband was going out to dinner. The Kid and I had dinner and then at 8 I threw him into bed, powered up the old time laptop, set up the microphone and did a podcast about the Secret...

Podcast and Dis and Dat

Image
Well, hello there Thursday! Thursdays are fab because it almost the weekend which means that I can sit on my sofa and wear a tank top and stretchy pants. I have two looks: slutty corporate and homeless. When it is too hot, I have a third look: sweaty chic. It is hot again. Of course it is. I adored Sunday with all of the rain and the cool air. Whenever the Kid was in another room, I would throw open the windows to let the air in. Bliss. Today it is supposed to go up to 37 degrees... GAH! After work I am going to a friend's place for a quick drink and then heading to Francesco in Grinzing for dinner. I can't believe I hadn't been there in 20 years and now I am going for a second time in about a week. I can't quit you, pizza. Tomorrow we are trying the family photoshoot again. The Kid had a freak out last week just before the photographer arrived so we had to postpone. And he had another one last night as well. I think his stomach was bothering him since the medicine ...

The Photo Shoot That Didn't Happen and A List of My Favourite Films

Image
Oh you guys, the photo shoot. It was like 38 degrees, my hair and make up were done and then about 10 minutes before the photographer showed up, the Kid had a freak out. Now, the plus side of this freak out was that for once he didn't attack us. That was new. There was screaming and yelling but he just wanted to be held. So I am going to call that a win. It seems that the prescription we started on Tuesday is finally kicking in. This also means the Kid is not too happy about this new development. Knock on wood we get through this weekend and don't have to deal with anymore fallout. When the freak out started, I wrote the photographer who is also a friend and apologized that we would have to postpone the shoot. Of course she was totally understanding but I felt so terrible. So next Friday, we are doing our family photo shoot unless the Kid decides to pull another diva stunt. Actually, even if he pulls a diva stunt, we are still doing it, Britney. In other news, last night I ...

These are a Few of my Favourite Things

Oh my God this heat. 38 celsius today, kids. I am melting. Thank you for air conditioning at work otherwise I would be on strike. I am not a heat person unless I am by a pool (preferably private) and holding a cocktail. Sure, summer is o.k. and stuff... but if I start to sweat from places that shouldn't sweat... yeah, no bueno. I might even head to Bikram yoga on the weekend to cool down. Blergh. Last night I had a lovely dinner at Francesco and tomorrow is a family photo shoot. We will melt. We will sweat. But at least there will be a couple of great pictures of the Kid doing his best Blue Steel. It has been a while since I have done a My Favourite Things so I thought I would do a post tonight. If I don't, you know, pass out halfway through. Sidenote: it is pissing rain right now and people are walking through the park and look overjoyed in the downpour. That's just how damn hot it is. WHAT IS THIS MADNESS!?! Yes, I am a Fall girl and my favourite 4 months of the year ...

Cray Cray Times but Hoping Things Get Better

Image
First off, apologies for not writing for over a week. It has been a bit of a roller coaster. Last Sunday the Kid had an epic 3 freak outs. He never has more than 1 in a day so this was a bit of a shock. In June he had about 5 freak outs and in July, he beat this record by 2. We believe it is due to his digestion and so last Monday, I asked people for specialists and so many awesome people gave me suggestions. We tried two different doctors but they wouldn't take the Kid but on the third try, BINGO! The Husband sent me the guy's website and I wrote back "He has a nice face. Yes, let's choose him." Yes, kids, always judge a book by its cover. The guy had kind eyes. Kind eyes always win... and a doctorate too, of course. Last week the Kid was in a spectacular mood after his Sunday hat trick (I was a wreck, however). I didn't go out during the week so of course, by Friday, I was ready to go buckwild. And I did. I really did. A friend asked me the other day how...
