My (Half) Day Off, Cocktails and Judging People

Image
Oh man, I am bummed. I have been looking forward to this day off for a while. It's rare to ever have the apartment to myself and I specifically booked this Friday off so that from 8 to 1, I could sit on the sofa and watch crap TV and then do some interpretive dancing to the opening credits of Murder She Wrote . But nope, not happening today. The Kid still has a cough so he is staying home today which means he is staying with me which means no Jazz Hands when Jessica Fletcher pulls her manuscript out of the typewriter. Of course the Kid is fine and is suffering cabin fever so I have to constantly yell at him to stop climbing into the washing machine. I love spending time with the Kid and I was happy that on Wednesday I could spend time with him as he stood on our bed and threw up... but Mommy really needed some alone time in the apartment today. #honestmomadmission.. and now #momguilt. The Husband went to work this morning but realized that I was a little down. "I JUST WANT...

Sick Kid and Making T-Shirts

Since my plans changed yesterday, I ended up meeting a friend for drinks and then met another friend for dinner at Li's Cooking in Naschmarkt. Wine was had and for dinner I had spring rolls and vegetable Pho with fried tofu. Who knew that I kind of love tofu now? WHAT IS HAPPENING!?! If I start smelling like patchouli, you have permission to intervene and/or slap me. Anyway, I got home around 8:30 yesterday evening and the Kid started to cough like a champion. We sent him yesterday to kindergarten because we are assholes. No, he was totally fine but obviously he gave into the God of Colds and since last night, he has been hacking up a lung. He had a fever last night around 9 and also this morning. He got out of bed at 7 and crawled into our bed and proceeded to cough in my face. Thanks, Kid. I chased him around to get some cough syrup into him and then he retired to the sofa. A little while later he decided to throw up Exorcist style and I sent the Husband a text "He's...

February Re-Cap, Weight Loss and Hello March

Image
Wow! Already March, and the weather is AWFUL today! I am sitting on my sofa, drinking my coffee and huddled under 3 blankets, trying to ignore the terrible wind outside. Gah! I want a day in bed! February was quite a month and here are the highlights. Office Twin and My Joint Bday Party : oh what fun that was! Again, thank you for all of the wonderful presents and to everybody who came. I also cannot believe the cake actually happened... in that I actually baked a cake and looked awesome and stuff. The Mike Lake event : This was an incredible evening and it was definitely a huge highlight for me. It was incredible to have him in Vienna and to take the time on his holiday to come and speak. It was inspiring and definitely helped propel me to work even harder on opening a center. My birthday : Which had been preceded by a crazy night out at a Blues bar. There were presents, and Unicorn heads and pizza and then I went to bed at 8 which was amazing. Nights out : There were a ...

125,000 Views and the Week Ahead

Image
Well, I am so ridiculously excited that my blog views reached 125,000 yesterday. I guess me writing about the microblading pushed it over the edge. I guess me doing something painful and cosmetic brings in the readers. Noted. Heh. I started this blog about 4 years ago and it started as a weight loss and fluffy blog and then slowly morphed into something more. It is therapeutic for me, hopefully funny for some of you and definitely one of my favourite things to do. If I could just sit and write all day, that would be a dream come true but unfortunately I's gots bills to pay. I am ecstatic that so many people read this blog! A lot of you are people I know but some of you are people who type in "Girl in a tubetop" and I am sorry whoever you are that your Google search brought you to this page because I am pretty sure that you were not expecting this. But you are still welcome, Frat boy! So again, a big thank you for reading when you can, for messages on Facebook and via ...

What I Did Yesterday

Image
So the past couple of weeks, I have been researching (Google image search) the procedure called microblading. I first heard about this about a year ago but it wasn't until my fabulous make up artist (Eli Hair and Make Up: look her up, she is amazing!) mentioned it a little while ago that I started considering it. I was going to wait until I lost a little more weight and I wrote the place on Friday that "Eli" recommended, expecting it would take a couple of weeks to get an appointment. Well, they wrote back right away that they had an appointment the next day. I am nothing if not spontaneous so I took a deep breath and wrote back that I wanted the appointment. Then I dry heaved. Microblading is essentially superficial tattooing. You get little cuts along the eyebrows and then they add dye. It lasts for 6 months to a year. I have very tiny and light eyebrows and daily I have to colour them in. I know, first world problems. I told the Husband in the morning "I...

First Session of Finance Coaching

Hello Friday! Ugh, longest week ever. This has been an insane week of meetings, later nights of working and yoga. I am pretty exhausted and I am looking forward to doing some yoga (day 12!), snuggling with the Kid and then crashing into bed. I feel like I have been going non-stop and haven't had a lot of down time. Last night I worked until 8 and then my friend and I decided that we deserved some wine and pizza and so we hopped on the ubahn and went to Fratelli's. We were shown to a table and the waiter passed us the menus and I practically barked "WE NEED WINE!" I scanned the wine list at warp speed, practically holding onto his arm to stop him from leaving and ordered a bottle of Chianti. It had been a long ass day. I ordered a margherita pizza because that is always my pizza of choice (and yes, I realize that I am unable to handle cheese but I can't so no). We drank wine and guffawed and talked. And at one point, two burly manly men walked in, accompanied b...

Day 11 and a CD Launch

Image
Namaste motherlovers! Just completed day 11 of my 30 day challenge. I did an early morning Hot Yoga class and I feel pretty awesome. Last night I did a YouTube tutorial of Ali Kamenova and posted it on Instagram and she totally "hearted" it and that made my evening. A little self-promotion here: you can follow me on Instagram @Tmspatz. I post more pictures there then on Facebook (crazy, I know). Just throwing it out there. Anyway, I am definitely feeling more zen and more bendy and I think I am starting to "get" Yoga. I blasted it (internally) for many years. I knew it was considered a great exercise for emotional balance but for some reason, I didn't think it would be enough of a work out for me. And I also have the flexibility of a granite counter top. Vanity is usually the reason I don't like something. But after doing different types of yoga these past 11 days, I have a better appreciation that it can actually kick your ass. Did not expect that.
