Hey, Guess What? Another Challenge!

Yup, you read that right. I am doing another challenge. Before I left for Canada in May, I did a 6 week fitness challenge. I ended up less fat but definitely more fit and I had a blast doing it. Since being back, dealing with the Kid's freak outs and then the Husband going on holiday, I have slowly morphed back into a frat boy who doesn't like to move. So I decided to do another challenge because I find them all sorts of fun and really do keep me focused.... and hungry. I joke. I joke. This one won't be as long as the one in the spring. It will be a 21 day challenge but it will be a tough one. One reason for doing it is because we are doing a family photoshoot on August 4th and I want to be able to look back and not think "What is Shamu doing there?"

Again, I am not totally unhappy with myself, I just want to feel better. And military style self imposed boot camp is definitely the way to go. But only I can yell at myself because I am delicate flower. What made me want to start another challenge? Well, I met a friend for drinks and we did this fun "Know thyself" 25 questions type of things and one of the questions was "Describe your ideal day." I have lots of ideal days and all of them seem to involve a crisp Fall day. Or sometimes a pool. Or a bbq. Or a baseball game. Maybe some shopping with a liquid lunch... cough. But I described my ideal (work) day as:

Wake up at 6. Have a cup of coffee and then go for a run. Back by 7, take a shower. Kid goes to school. I make another cup of coffee and then write for the next 4 hours (I am successful writer in this ideal day). In the afternoon grab some lunch with a friend. Go for a walk or yoga class. Get a little more writing done and then get home in time to make dinner. Family dinner, play with Kid. Then Kid in bed and then watch TV or do a craft. (Some evenings I go out, obviously).

In these ideal days, I also have fabulous highlights. The more I described the day to my friend, the more I realized that I could at least do some of these things. Sure, my full time job totally gets in the way of my imaginary writing career, but I could do the run. And I could do that most mornings. And I am not sure why I am waiting for that ideal day to make working out a habit. If I were a full time writer, I'm pretty sure my day would involve a lot less running and a lot more reading about celebrity feuds. Actually, that would be similar to what I do now. Anyway, back to the challenge... I will be recapping the next 3 weeks and posting pictures on Instagram again. You can follow me under Tmspatz or #operationtubetop or #Iamgoingtocry. The only real rules for this challenge is that I need to work out daily. And I need to watch what I eat. Nothing too cray cray but definitely better than the spaghetti pie I made yesterday with leftover cheese. Not sure what I was thinking but boy was it delicious. I blame the afternoon drinks for this insane concoction.

Speaking of yesterday... it was the sensory friendly viewing of Life Animated at Filmcasino. I wasn't sure how many people would be attending and since it was a documentary, I figured there wouldn't be too many kids there. I walked down with the Kid and the Husband and I was wondering how the Kid would be entering the actual building. Last December we had to bribe him with chocolate to even walk in but lo and behold, he walked in like he owned the place. He walked around and seemed in great spirits and even when I was talking to someone, he stayed near by. That was a huge jump in my opinion. Just before the film started, an employee approached me and said he would say a couple of words about the screening and he would introduce me and then I could say what I wanted to say and I looked at him in shock and said "I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY!" I was not prepared at.all and I felt like a moron. Oh well. Pretty used to that by now. The doors opened up and we grabbed seats in the front. The Kid was ready to start running around but we bribed him with a fruit bar so that he would stay seated for a least a couple of minutes. The employee went to the front and said a few words and then said "in cooperation with the Beacon Beach House. Tova Marr is sitting right over there." and I just put my hand up a little and gave a little wave and felt like an ass.

A few seconds later the film started and the Kid and I left the theater. I hadn't really planned on staying long with him and knowing that the documentary would make me cry, I thought it was best to sneak out. The Husband stayed to watch and the Kid and I walked back home. The next screening will be on September 9th and will be a cartoon so we will definitely be staying for that. Again, so incredibly excited that the Filmcasino is doing this! Hurray! So that is about it. Just a short post about the challenge and the Filmcasino. Tonight I am heading to Le Troquet with my friend L.G. and tomorrow a friend is in town so we will be meeting for drinks. Otherwise I hope to get a lot more writing in over the next few days. Just 25,000 words to go! I typed a lot this week, y'all. It's good to be back and writing my book. And then, if it does well, I can actually live my ideal day in real life. And afford highlights. Heh.
