Guest Blog Post - Ida Vickers - 4 Tips for a Great Selfie

Image
Good morning everybody! I hope you all had a great Easter Sunday! Yesterday I decided to try a 45 minute run because I am cray cray. I also believe that if I get a few long runs in before the Frauenlauf, I will believe that the actual race is totes easy. I need to believe this or else I will cry at the start line. Is that what it is called? Who knows. Anyway, the run was insane but the smug factor after was epic. After a shower, I got dressed and then the Kid, the Husband and I headed to the in laws for brunch. In the afternoon I met a dear friend for some wine and then headed home to Skype with my parents. After that, we ordered dinner and obviously pizza was the best choice. Dammit. The Husband and I watched Unfaithful (only decent thing on TV) and spent most of it giving each other side eye. It was a pretty good Easter. So today's blog post is a guest post from the lovely photographer Ida Vickers. She took pictures of me back in January and she did a wonderful job. S...

Accounting Meeting, Dinner Out and Day of Marr

Image
Good morning everybody! I hope you are having a fab Saturday morning! I actually got a decent night's sleep so I am feeling pretty well rested which is a rare occurrence. The Kid slept well but did give me a minor heart attack sneaking into our room at 3 a.m. He is currently wrapped up like a burrito on the living room floor. He knows relaxation. Speaking of which, yesterday was the Day of Marr. I have these every few months where I pretty much do very little. Or I do whatever I want to. It isn't complicated to create your very own Day of Marr. It pretty much involves dropping your child off at kindergarten, making sure your life partner goes to work. You make yourself breakfast, then pass out on the sofa for a couple of hours. Then get dressed and walk and shop and buy yourself ice cream and I will talk more about Day of Marr in a bit. The ice cream was delicious, by the way. On Thursday I had the day off. I went to hot yoga in the morning and then spent most of the mornin...

Short Week and then Easter... Wrote the Jew

Image
Hello Tuesday! I am super excited that as of Wednesday afternoon, I am off work until next Tuesday! How will I spend all this free time? I imagine watching a lot of TV and maybe switching out my winter and summer wardrobe. I know, exciting. This morning I went to hot yoga. It killed me but it was great. I am aiming to get at least 2 sessions in a week because now I can almost touch my toes! It is great to be back in it and there is something to be said about being awake but not being on the Internet for 90 minutes straight. This evening a friend is coming by for dinner. Nothing fancy but we will be having wine and I hope that this time the Kid does not give himself  3rd degree burns. Speaking of the Kid, I think I bought something life changing for him... well, at least bedtime changing. I saw a Facebook friend post about a sea lamp the other week and I was intrigued. She has a boy with autism and it seemed like this lamp might be an awesome thing to have. I always figured that if ...

Easter Fest and Some Me Time

Image
Hello! Good morning! Happy Sunday! Formula 1 is on and I still in my pjs and I am feeling incredibly relaxed. All the big events for the moment are out of the way and I feel like I can breathe a little easier. It has been a wild couple of months and next week is Easter and I cannot wait! Last week was pretty crazy: I worked late a couple of weeks and the Kid was a bit of a hot mess and I had that little procedure. The good news is that the Kid seems to be back to his old cheerful self so thank the heavens above. Also, yesterday was the big Easter fest for kids with special needs at the Hard Rock Cafe Vienna and I have to say, it was an absolute success! We had a few no shows but that was fine because the turn out was still great! I got there with the Kid and the Husband just around 9:20 and about 10 minutes later, people started to show up. The Easter Bunny was already there when we arrived and I realized that my old fear of mascots started to surface. I remember in university, whi...

Weekend Ahead and Dis and Dat

Image
I am so happy it is Friday! I have a phone date this evening and then tomorrow is the Easter event at Hard Rock Cafe and then it will be a weekend of chillaxing! The Kid stayed home yesterday. We aren't sure what is going on but I think he just might be a little under the weather. He also doesn't want to go to bed now which is a new not fun thing. He ended up falling asleep on me while I watched Columbo. It was idyllic. I got a cramp but I got to snuggle my bebe and it was bliss. When I left for work early this morning, he was still passed out in my bed (MY BED!) so he is staying home one more day. And then, well, it is the weekend. I don't know if he is going through some new separation anxiety but I do get it. I would want to spend a lot of time with me, too. Heh. By the way, I adore Cary Elwes. I wonder what he is up to nowadays. I always thought he should be in more things...I am going to Google him right now "Cary Elwes 2017" Oh. Alright. Hmm. Meh. That...

A Great Event and a Little Procedure

Image
Apologies for not updating this blog in over a week! It has been incredibly hectic in every aspect of my life these past few days and things are finally and hopefully slowing down soon. I say that every time and then the universe is like "Wait a second, is Tova chillaxing? SEND HER ALL THE MEMES!" But for the most part, nothing major seems to be on the horizon. Famous last words. The Kid has been a bit difficult the last few days. It started on Sunday evening. He was kvetchy and annoyed and we didn't know what was wrong. I initially thought it was growing pains but since he can't speak, it is pretty impossible to know what is bothering him. He didn't fall asleep until 10:30 and I was a bit of a wreck. On Monday he was fine until a friend and her visiting sister came over. He came over to me in an agitated state during dinner and showed me his finger. It looked a little red and then I realized that he smelled like lavender. He had stuck his finger into the oil ...

How to be a Perfect Mother - The Early Years

Image
This is a satire piece that I really enjoyed writing. Being a mom nowadays is tough. I'm not saying that previous generations haven't struggled with motherhood, but with the dawn of the Internet, there is a lot of constant pressure. Stay at home mom? You aren't a feminist. Working mom? Why did you have a child if you aren't going to spend all day with them. Co-sleeping? Your child is screwed. Sleeping on their own from birth? Your child is screwed. You lost the baby weight and fit into a size 2? So vain. You haven't lost the baby weight and sweat pants love you? What kind of example are you setting for your child? Post a lot of pictures of your child on Facebook? A little too obsessive mommy. Don't post pictures of your child on Facebook? Odd, paranoid mommy. You literally cannot win as far as the Internet goes. I have been blasted in the past for lots of things and while it isn't fun, I am growing a thicker skin. I truly think that a perfect mother is one w...
