Real Housewives of Miami

Image
Oh zippity doo dah! It is back! I loved this show when it premiered a couple of years ago but apparently did badly in the ratings... But, after a slight rehaul and some new cast members, this show is back! At 4:30 this morning, my son had a night terror. I had heard about these but didn't really understand how absolutely terrible these are. The kid seems to be awake but is screaming and thrashing and pushing everything and every one away. Not fun. But after a couple of minutes he calmed down and all was well in the world. Well, except I couldn't fall asleep again. I decided to watch the first episode of Real Housewives of Miami that aired a couple of weeks ago. Oh it was fantastic and had lots of brilliant one-liners from my most favourite reality woman on TV. Mama Elsa. She looks terrifying but she is a hoot! This is also a gentle reminder to keep the plastic surgery to a minimum, ladies. Tonight the Husband is at a client dinner and once the kid is in bed, I get t

Stars without Make up

I have to thank my friend Alix for turning me on to New York Daily Mail. It has a great celeb section and this one series of photos caught my eye. Why are we (or maybe just me and a couple of friends) so happy to see a less than perfect picture of a celeb? Well, my theory is that it makes a lot of us feel a whole lot better about ourselves... Haha hahaha.. You have millions and beautiful clothes but you still don't look so good without make up... ha ha.. God, I am pathetic. Sure, some of these starts still look stunning and you have my full permission to quickly click through those and mutter to yourself "flattering light". Say Yes to the Dress

Image
This is my goal dress. It is hot pink and very form-fitting... I love it.. I have now hung it up in my bedroom so that every morning I can remind myself that I need to fit in this dress. Mornings now suck.

5 Week Bootcamp

Image
My costume arrived last week and it is so awesome but unfortunately a little too small. If I don't drop some weight and get a little more toned, I risk looking like a chubby, retired porn star. Not a look I am going for (yet). So as of today I am kicking my butt into gear and getting a few pounds off. Who's with me?! Anyone? Anyone!? I will be back on a lower carb meal plan with more veggies and more workouts... I can do this... right? Pray for me.

I heart pink hair

Image
The other day I was on Pinterest (I am always on Pinterest) and saw that Lauren Conrad (she was awesome on the Hills!!) had done a tutorial on pastel chalking temporary pink hair dye. It looked easy enough but when I went to the store to purchase the pastel chalk, it was nowhere to be found. So being impulsive and stupid, I bought pink hair spray. The first night I did just the tips which was pretty cute and then I got cocky and did the whole head. But I will admit it, I love it. If I didn't have a job I would maybe perhaps consider going permanently pink. The Husband wasn't a fan. As you can see, I have been photobombed by the History Channel and my son. Another view... PINK!!! The spray is temporary and washes right out (except for bits and pieces.. so embarassing on Monday morning).

New Menu

Since coming back from holidays and starting work, I feel like my eating has been a little off track and a lot starchy carby etc. As much as I am not trying to "diet", I think I need to cut down on so many refined carbs. So this week, my menu may seem a little low carbish. But never fear, it is just for a couple of weeks to kill the water weight. Wednesday: Day: Nuts and cheese Dinner: Lettuce leaf wraps with sliced and marinated steak Thursday: Day: Nuts and cheese Dinner: Salad and soup Friday: Day: Nuts and cheese Dinner: Burgers sans bun on the bbq Saturday: Day: Coffee cream Dinner: Low carb lasagna (recipe coming soon) Sunday: BBQ! Monday: Day: Nuts and cheese Dinner: Scrambled eggs Tuesday: Day: Chicken Marsala Dinner: Taco salad

Adventures in stupid diets- a horrible memory

I have probably done every diet out there in the past and I thought that I would tell you about one particular mishap that occurred years ago when I lived in Toronto. The embarassment is still clinging on and the fact that the Husband still married me after this particular event is proof that true love is just about the best thing in the world. So anyway... About 9 years ago I had picked up some stupid magazine that had some stupid article about some stupid Chinese super herbal tea that was known to boost metabolism and give you all sorts of crazy stupid energy. I probably should have kept the article to use as a visual prop to have made sure I would have gotten the correct tea. With my extra 15-perhaps 30 pounds, I made my way into China town in Toronto (it was just down the street from our apartment) and walked into a Chinese herbal supplement store. I spent about 20 minutes trying to learn Chinese characters but that was a futile exercise. I finally gave up and approached the lady

Gettin Back in Shape

I haven't been to the gym in a couple of weeks and I am starting to feel gross ergo I ignore the scale. It is easy for me to go off track and suddenly see a picture of myself and say "Honey? Who is that corpulent pale creature holding our son?" and then I cry. So it is time to really buckle down so that this Halloween I can rock a costume of little material. Today is my first day back at work and it feels good to be busy again. The busier I am, the more productive I am and so stay tuned for creations of crap that I will be making in the near future. And as of tomorrow morning at 5:45 my alarm will go off and I will be dragging myself back to the gym. No more sleeping in until 7 a.m. Oh no no no no. I think I am going to cry.

Voodoo Magic Syoss

Image
I am back from a great holiday but recovering from lack of sleep, too much wine, too little excercise and way too much food. It will be a couple of weeks until I post a picture. I did something stupid before I left on holiday. I dyed my hair back to brown. Why? No idea why but let me just say I was not happy. I have gotten used to the blonde and even though I want to tone it down, I think I might be sticking to it for a while more...Ever more. In a panic, I picked up a box of Syoss and on our trip, dyed it back again. I told the Husband that I would dye it in the morning in case there would be a disaster of epic proportions leading me to head to the small town pharmacy down the street and purchase even more dye. How he puts up with me is a miracle. I have to say, I am impressed with the Syoss lightener. It took medium brown hair and dyed it blonde with minimal orangey-yellowy after effects. Yes, I had to do a rinse of ash blonde to correct the tone when I got home but overall, I
